FERGIE: CANDIE GIRL

Fergie has signed a new product placement songwriting deal for a reported £2 million with US clothing brand Candie's.

In what could be a first for the music industry, Ms Lovelyladylumps herself: Fergie will start writing songs that promote the Candie's clothing label. Her own label Interscope have embraced the deal, with a spokesperson saying "With record sales in decline, you must find novel ways to make money out of music. The trick is to make the brand part of the song so it slips down easily rather than choking the fan."

The shop chain itself, similar to the UK's Top Shop chain, will have no say on release or content of Fergie's forthcoming material.
