AMERIE: Because I Love It

While Amerie might not admit to having a beef with Beyoncé, if both of the R&B divas’ albums were put under the microscope, it’s more than obvious whose record holds the knockout punch.
With a blazing hot single in the form of ‘Take Control’, Amerie separates the real from the fake on her new set. Could it be that Amerie is about to kick Beyoncé and her phat ass off the charts with her tail between her, albeit, lovely legs? Maybe.
Helping the sexy diva to overcome all and any opposition are tracks such as ‘Gotta Work’- thanks to its openly apparent Mark Ronson-like horns and funky drum riff, and ‘Hate2LoveU’ - which serves as a reminder as to what the singer can do with an insanely fresh piece of production. ‘Make Me Believe’ is the album’s finest cut and stands out more than Tony Yayo in a police line-up! Simple yet soulfully complex, the production throughout has the common thread of excellent percussion arrangements and serves the entertainer well.
The only tracks that let the side down are the closing ballads ‘When Loving You Was Easy’ and ‘All Roads’ on which the pace and passion that carries the album all of a sudden comes to a grinding halt.
